WASHINGTON — An Iranian news outlet tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps published a propaganda video in late July that encouraged attacks on first lady Melania Trump and ended with a warning aimed at Barron Trump, 20.
The roughly two-minute clip, circulated by Tasnim News Agency under titles including “Where to Kill Melania?!,” used images of the first lady’s motorcade and New York locations, including luxury stores on Fifth Avenue. It called those sites potentially “suitable for operations by global freedom fighters” and claimed to draw on “anonymous security networks” and satellite imagery. Security analysts and news organizations that reviewed the video said much of the material appeared to be publicly available footage, some of it AI-generated.
The video closed with the line: “This is just the beginning. Barron Trump, wait for us.”
The East Wing did not immediately comment. The Secret Service said it was aware of the video and investigates any perceived threat to its protectees, declining to discuss protective measures. Melania Trump and Barron Trump both have full-time Secret Service details. Trump family residences, including the White House, Trump Tower, Bedminster and Mar-a-Lago, remain under heavy security.
The clip was part of a wider Iranian media campaign after a U.S.-Israel operation that Iranian and Western reports said killed the regime’s supreme leader and other senior figures. Last week, billboards in Tehran called for the deaths of President Donald Trump and relatives, including Melania Trump and his children. One display read “Blood for blood.” Another showed mocked-up images of family members marked “KILLED.”
Melania Trump has kept a lower public profile this month and did not attend Friday’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner; a source close to her cited a scheduling conflict.
President Trump has said Iranian threats against him are longstanding. After a NATO-related trip to Turkey, he switched aircraft amid security concerns. He told reporters he had left instructions that any successful attack should be met with a massive military response.
Tasnim is widely described as an IRGC-aligned outlet and has been sanctioned by the United States. Officials treat such videos as propaganda and intimidation rather than verified operational plans, while still reviewing them as threats. Investigators have not announced a specific plot tied to the clip.
