TUCSON, Ariz. — The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, remains unresolved as investigators continue searching for answers nearly eight months after she was last seen at her Tucson home.
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on Feb. 1, 2026, after she was last seen at her residence in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood on the evening of Jan. 31. The FBI describes her as a vulnerable adult who has difficulty walking, has a pacemaker and requires daily medication for a heart condition.
🔎 Surveillance Footage Under Scrutiny
Investigators have been examining surveillance footage captured around Nancy’s home as they work to reconstruct what happened.
The FBI has publicly released video showing an armed individual apparently tampering with a camera at Nancy’s front door on the morning of her disappearance. Authorities are seeking help from the public to identify the person and determine whether the individual has information relevant to the case.
Investigators have also urged residents to review doorbell and security-camera footage for unfamiliar people, vehicles or other activity that could help establish a timeline.
🧤 Physical Evidence Adds Another Question
Investigators have also examined physical evidence recovered during the search, including a glove reportedly found several miles from Nancy’s residence.
Forensic testing can sometimes provide crucial leads, but evidence must be carefully evaluated to determine whether it is connected to a disappearance and when or how it was left behind.
Authorities have not publicly identified a person responsible for Nancy’s disappearance, and the available evidence has not established who may have taken her.
👮 Family Faces Public Speculation
The investigation has also drawn intense public attention because of Nancy’s connection to Savannah Guthrie.
Online speculation has focused on members of the family, but authorities have emphasized the importance of relying on verified investigative information rather than social-media theories. The family has cooperated with investigators while continuing to search for answers.
For Savannah and her relatives, the disappearance has brought months of uncertainty as investigators work through surveillance footage, digital evidence, forensic material and tips from the public.
💰 Reward Reaches $100,000
The FBI has appealed directly to the public for information that could help locate Nancy or identify anyone involved in her disappearance. The agency’s current video appeal says a reward of up to $100,000 is available for information leading to Nancy’s location and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved.
The FBI continues to accept digital information, including photographs and doorbell-camera footage, through its tip system.
Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts remain unknown.
For investigators, the mission is unchanged: follow the evidence, identify what happened and bring Nancy home. For her family, every unanswered question represents another day of waiting for the information they have been hoping for since the night she disappeared.
