NEW YORK — Former President Bill Clinton has offered a reassuring update on his health following a recent hospitalization, thanking his doctors, nurses and supporters while signaling that he remains focused on recovering and staying active.
In a video message shared Wednesday, Clinton appeared somewhat weakened but maintained an upbeat tone as he reflected on his recent health scare. He expressed gratitude for the widespread support he received while undergoing treatment and specifically thanked medical staff at UC Irvine Medical Center, where he spent approximately a week receiving care.
“I was so touched by the outpouring of support I received during my stay in the hospital,” Clinton said, acknowledging those who contacted him and the medical professionals who cared for him.
According to an aide, Clinton was hospitalized after a urological infection spread into his bloodstream. The aide said the former president was recovering and had not developed septic shock.
Doctors also reported encouraging signs during his treatment. Alpesh Amin, chair of the Department of Medicine and executive director of hospital medicine at UC Irvine Medical Center, said Clinton’s fever and white blood cell count had returned to normal.
Clinton was expected to continue his recovery at home while completing his prescribed course of antibiotics. In a subsequent update, he expressed confidence about his condition, telling supporters that he was “doing great” and on the road to recovery.
The hospitalization drew significant public attention because of Clinton’s age and his long-standing role in American public life. The 42nd president, who served two terms from 1993 to 2001, has remained active since leaving office through public appearances, charitable work, political engagement and initiatives connected to the Clinton Foundation.
Clinton also used his experience to deliver a broader message about the importance of paying attention to personal health. He encouraged people to listen to their bodies, recognize warning signs and seek medical care when something does not feel right.
The former president emphasized that maintaining good health is important not only for individuals but also for their families, communities and the responsibilities they carry.
As Clinton continues his recovery outside the hospital, his latest public appearance provided supporters with an encouraging glimpse of his condition. After a serious infection led to several days of medical treatment, the former president appeared determined to regain his strength and continue contributing to public life.
For Clinton, the message was ultimately one of gratitude, recovery and determination.
