PHILADELPHIA — Ashley Biden, the youngest daughter of former President Joe Biden, has filed for divorce from her husband, Dr. Howard Krein, ending a marriage that lasted more than 13 years.
Biden filed the divorce complaint in Philadelphia on Aug. 11, 2025, according to court records and reporting by The Philadelphia Inquirer. A representative for Biden confirmed the filing. The couple married in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware, after being introduced through Biden’s late brother, Beau Biden.
The specific reasons for the separation have not been publicly disclosed. Philadelphia divorce complaints are not public, leaving few details available about what led to the decision.
Around the time of the filing, Biden shared social-media posts about “new beginnings” and boundaries, along with a photograph of herself walking through a park. The posts drew attention online, although she did not publicly describe them as statements about her divorce.

The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, released a report in October 2025 alleging that some executive actions signed with an autopen may not have received direct authorization from Biden. The committee referred its findings to the Justice Department and called for additional review.
