TUCSON, Ariz. — Seven months after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson home, investigators are still searching for answers in a case that has drawn national attention and left the family of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie waiting for news.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills on the evening of January 31, 2026. Authorities have said evidence indicates she was abducted and continue to investigate the case with the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Despite months of investigation, Nancy’s whereabouts remain unknown and no suspect has been publicly identified or arrested.
🔎 Surveillance Video Provides Key Lead
One of the most significant developments came when investigators released doorbell-camera footage showing a masked individual outside Nancy’s home in the early morning hours of February 1.
The FBI described the person as a man of approximately 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with an average build, wearing a face covering, gloves and a black backpack. Investigators said the individual appeared to tamper with the home’s camera.
Authorities have continued asking residents to examine security-camera recordings and report information involving suspicious people, vehicles or activity around the time Nancy disappeared.
The surveillance footage remains one of the principal publicly known investigative leads, but authorities have not announced that the individual has been identified.
🧬 Glove Evidence Fails to Produce a Breakthrough
Investigators also recovered a glove roughly two miles from Nancy’s home that appeared visually similar to the gloves worn by the person captured on surveillance video.
Initial testing detected DNA on the glove, raising hopes that forensic evidence could help identify the person involved. However, subsequent testing produced no match in the FBI’s national DNA database. Further reporting indicated that the DNA was ultimately traced to a nearby restaurant worker who authorities said was unrelated to the disappearance.
The development eliminated one potentially important lead but did not resolve the larger investigation.
